Financial planning industry faces advisor shortage and complexity
The financial planning industry is approaching a significant talent shortage, with expectations of a deficit of approximately 100,000 advisors due to a massive retirement wave. This shortage coincides with a period of substantial wealth creation in the United States.
Dynasty Financial Partners CEO Shirl Penney noted that while artificial intelligence and technological advancements offer new ways to scale businesses, the human element of financial advice remains irreplaceable. Penney emphasized that advisors must navigate increasing global complexities, including cybersecurity, geopolitical issues, and market volatility, by prioritizing essential business functions and outsourcing non-core tasks.
Separately, research from FMG indicates that financial advisors utilizing managed marketing programs achieve higher growth and consistency. A 12-month analysis of over 12,000 advisors found that those in the Do It For Me Program grew their email lists 30% faster than self-managed advisors and maintained more consistent marketing schedules.
