Financial reforms announced in Tunisia and CEMAC region
Tunisia has outlined economic budget priorities for 2027 aimed at modernizing its financial system. The strategy focuses on diversifying funding sources, developing the financial market, strengthening the insurance sector, and consolidating the banking system. These measures intend to mobilize national savings and facilitate access to financing for SMEs and new entrepreneurs to support a more resilient economy and social justice.
In Central Africa, the CEMAC monetary union has adopted a reform to remove the 20 billion FCFA cap on private placements. Effective November 1, 2026, companies and financial institutions will be able to raise unlimited capital from an expanded pool of up to 99 qualified investors. This regulatory change, adopted in N’Djamena, aims to facilitate investment by allowing entities to bypass traditional bank credit or public savings calls to meet growing capital needs.
