Financial sector reports growth in Dominican Republic and Chile
In the Dominican Republic, AFI Popular reported that its open-ended investment funds managed assets exceeding RD$13,598 million as of July 2026. The funds serve 4,654 individual and corporate contributors, offering options in both pesos and dollars. The largest component is the Renta Fija Liquidez Popular fund, which holds RD$8,620 million, while the Plazo 30 Días Dólares Popular fund manages US$66.9 million.
In Chile, pension fund administrators (AFPs) saw a 13.5% increase in profits during the first half of 2026, totaling $378,085 million (approximately US$410 million). This growth was driven by higher commission revenues and improved returns on mandatory reserve funds (encaje). Specifically, the performance of multi-funds A and B contributed to higher profitability for the reserves, which reached $2,304,402 million (US$2,499 million) by the end of June 2026.
