Financial sector reports show credit trends in Dominican Republic and Colombia
In the Dominican Republic, the financial system captured 118,515 new debtors between January and May 2026. According to the Dominican Banking Market Information System (Simbad), women represent 50.4% of these debtors. Banco de Reservas led the period with 6,379 new debtors, accounting for 43.3% of new entries. Other notable institutions include Banco Popular, Adepem, Banco Ademi, and Banfondesa.
In Colombia, a TransUnion report indicates that 32% of adults lack a traditional credit history as of the second quarter of 2026. However, 86% of these individuals have economic data recorded through other sectors. Specifically, 59% of those starting their credit journey do so through telecommunications companies, while 22% begin through the retail sector. Approximately 40% of consumers using these alternative services eventually acquire traditional credit products within three years.
