Financial services and investment options in Costa Rica, Colombia, and Argentina

Various financial institutions and government programs are offering diverse investment and credit solutions across Latin America.

In Costa Rica, BN Fondos provides investment funds designed for both individuals and companies. These options include money market funds for short-term liquidity, such as DinerFondo and SuperFondo, as well as growth funds for medium- to long-term objectives, including international market access. Minimum investment amounts can be as low as ₡5,000, $20, or $100.

In Colombia, the Bogotá Secretariat of Economic Development has launched ‘Buena Paga’. This program aims to help micro-businesses access the formal financial system through four specific routes: Access, Re-banking, Credit Path, and guidance. The initiative includes incentives for good payment behavior and support for those with difficult credit histories, with some incentives reaching up to 25% of the loan.

In Argentina, an analysis compares the performance of Mutual Funds (FCI) against traditional fixed-term deposits. While Mutual Funds offer greater liquidity and professional management, the study indicates that, among the funds analyzed, none currently outperform the short-term profitability of bank deposits established by the Central Bank.
