Financial stability and debt regulation discussed in Dominican Republic and Argentina

In the Dominican Republic, financial specialist Ana Brioso has endorsed Resolution JM 260319-03 issued by the Monetary Board. The resolution aims to curb excessive consumer debt by requiring financial institutions to exercise greater responsibility when granting loans. Brioso emphasized that while individuals must manage their own economic capacity, banks must carefully analyze applicants' ability to repay to prevent financial chaos and family instability.

In Argentina, the Secretary of Finance has dismissed claims of currency undervaluation, asserting that the dollar will remain stable through 2027. The official stated that the exchange rate is driven by market supply and demand, supported by consecutive fiscal surpluses, the accumulation of reserves, and the cessation of monetary emission under President Javier Milei’s administration. The government maintains that fiscal discipline provides the necessary predictability for private investment and economic development.
