Financial Street Forum to unveil digital RMB system and reform policies

The 2026 Annual Conference of the Financial Street Forum is scheduled to take place in Beijing from October 19 to 22. The event, themed ‘building an open, collaborative and inclusive ecosystem for global financial development’, is expected to unveil over 100 outcomes regarding financial standards, platforms, and open cooperation.

Chinese financial authorities are slated to release several policies concerning financial reform and development during the conference. Notably, the forum has announced plans to release a digital RMB system on October 19. While the specific technical specifications, intended user base, and functional scope of the digital RMB system have not been disclosed, the event is viewed as a significant disclosure moment.

The conference will feature thematic meetings on fintech, insurance, and investment, and will host more than 400 participants from over 40 countries and regions. For the first time, the forum will include an African sub-venue and a live connection between Beijing, Hong Kong, and London.
