Financial struggles threaten regional football clubs in Serbia and Bosnia
Football clubs in the Balkan region are facing significant financial instability. In western Serbia, the Football Association of the Western Serbia Region has lost its general sponsor, Superbet, following a unilateral termination of their contract. This decision has jeopardized existing financial arrangements with clubs in the Serbian League West, specifically impacting infrastructure funds intended for projects such as the construction and covering of a 500-seat grandstand.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, FK Guber from Srebrenica, a club with over 100 years of history, is also facing an existential crisis. The club is struggling with blocked accounts, a lack of regular sponsors, and deteriorating infrastructure. Club officials have noted that despite the club's recent centenary, the combination of financial hardship and local population decline continues to threaten its survival.
