Financial Supervisory Authority to introduce FinTech courses in Romanian universities
The Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) plans to collaborate with academic institutions to introduce new curricula focused on FinTech, digital finance, and sustainable finance. This initiative is part of the ASF’s Financial Innovation Strategy for 2026-2028, which aims to prepare graduates with skills adapted to the technological transformations within the financial sector.
As part of this strategy, the ASF intends to support joint research projects and provide the academic community with access to aggregated and anonymized datasets. These datasets will include information on supervised markets, asset category exposures, and retail investor behavior. Access to this data will be granted through public criteria while strictly adhering to data protection and confidentiality requirements.
The authority also aims to align its data management and utilization models with the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) standards. By fostering independent financial research and enhancing institutional transparency, the ASF seeks to strengthen its administrative capacity to respond to the challenges posed by the digitalization of the financial sector.
