Financial systems and digital skills gaps challenge women entrepreneurs

Women entrepreneurs are increasingly utilizing digital platforms, social media, and multiple income streams to build businesses. However, traditional financial systems often fail to accommodate these evolving models, as conventional lending assessments typically rely on established trading histories and physical assets rather than digital content or online community value.

To address these barriers, initiatives such as The Women’s Economy Survey by F5 Collective aim to better understand how women generate income to improve financial backing. Additionally, the World Bank Group and We-Fi are focusing on the necessity of digital literacy and AI-related skills. Strengthening these competencies is considered critical for women to access new markets, enter tech sectors, and translate digital proficiency into sustainable business growth and job creation.
