Finansinspektionen warns of 30 new investment scammers

The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) has issued a warning regarding 30 new fraudulent actors targeting investors. These scammers often use professional-looking websites, advanced financial terminology, and even Swedish or Nordic names to appear legitimate.

Some of these entities operate as ‘clone companies,’ utilizing the names, addresses, or other details of real financial institutions to deceive victims. The scammers frequently promote investments in stocks, cryptocurrencies, and currencies, often leveraging AI and automated trading algorithms to promise easier or more profitable returns.

A common tactic involves encouraging small initial deposits, showing the victim a fake increase in investment value to prompt larger transfers, and then preventing any attempts to withdraw funds. So far in 2026, the authority has warned against 227 suspected investment scammers.
