Fincantieri and PT PAL sign MoU to modernize Indonesian naval vessel

Fincantieri and PT PAL Indonesia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Jakarta to modernize the KRI Sriwijaya, formerly the Italian Navy's aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi. The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration to enhance the vessel's operational effectiveness across various missions, including maritime defense, security, humanitarian assistance, and emergency management.

Under the agreement, Fincantieri will leverage its original design and construction expertise to guide the modernization program. PT PAL Indonesia will provide capabilities in shipbuilding, systems integration, support, and maintenance. This partnership aims to foster broader industrial cooperation between Italy and Indonesia, involving technological partners from both nations to integrate advanced technologies and develop local maritime and defense competencies.
