Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero receives NIAF maritime leadership award
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri, has received the NIAF Dea Roma Special Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Maritime Industry. The award was presented in Washington, D.C., during the 51st anniversary gala of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF).
This marks the first time the recognition has been awarded to a figure from the maritime sector. The NIAF cited Folgiero’s leadership in consolidating Fincantieri’s position as Europe’s leading shipbuilding group and a global innovator, noting that the company serves as a testament to Italian engineering excellence and the ‘Made in Italy’ brand.
The recognition also highlights the industrial relationship between Italy and the United States. Fincantieri maintains a significant presence in the U.S. through its subsidiary, Fincantieri Marine Group, which operates four shipyards in Wisconsin and Florida and employs approximately 3,000 people. Over nearly two decades, the company has invested more than $800 million in its American operations and maintains an industrial partnership with the US Navy.
