Fincantieri secures major DDX destroyer contract for Italian Navy

Fincantieri has received positive analyst feedback following a €3.7 billion contract signed by Orizzonte Sistemi Navali (OSN) for the construction of two new DDX destroyers for the Italian Navy.

Analysts from Jefferies noted that approximately €1.8 billion of the order benefits Fincantieri, with an additional €800 million in options. This contract represents a significant milestone in the company’s €5 billion pipeline, providing multi-year visibility for revenue and margins.

The program emphasizes advanced technological integration, specifically through the use of the Navis Sapiens digital platform. This system is designed to integrate next-generation automation, digital lifecycle management, and unmanned assets for both surface and underwater operations. Industry experts view the contract as a strategic move that strengthens Fincantieri’s position as a global leader in advanced naval systems and high-value-added naval engineering.
