Finding Emily: New British romantic comedy explores young love

The British romantic comedy “Finding Emily,” directed by Alicia MacDonald, follows a young man named Owen (Spike Fearn) who becomes obsessed with finding a woman he met briefly at a bar. After realizing the phone number she gave him is missing a digit, Owen begins a quest on a university campus in Manchester to locate her.

During his search, he encounters another student named Emily (Angourie Rice). This second Emily, an American student, begins using Owen as a test subject for a university thesis exploring whether romantic love is a necessity for responsible adults. The plot escalates when an accidental email blast intended for the specific woman Owen is seeking is sent to every student named Emily at the university, causing a media spiral.
