Finecut acquires international rights for ‘Guardians of the Video Game’

Seoul-based sales agent Finecut has acquired the international sales rights for ‘Guardians of the Video Game,’ a 3D animated feature film. The announcement was made ahead of the Toronto film market.

The film is based on the Naver Webtoon of the same name by creator Gasfard, which has accumulated 345 million views. The story follows a covert guild of guardians who protect the integrity of video game worlds. The plot centers on a guardian banished from high-end 3D gaming environments who ends up in a pixel-based RPG, where he must guide a hero and expose a conspiracy.

Directed by Uhm Young-sik and produced by Locus Animation, the film is currently in post-production. It is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2026, with first footage expected to be revealed by Finecut during the Toronto market.
