Finistère investigation opened after death of toddler
An investigation has been opened in Finistère, France, following the death of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl at a hospital in Brest. The child passed away during the night of July 31 to August 1.
The child's mother has suggested a possible link between the death and a meal eaten at a pizzeria in Quimper a few days prior. In social media videos, the mother expressed concern regarding E. coli bacteria, noting that the child's health declined rapidly over three days.
The Quimper prosecutor's office confirmed the opening of an inquiry to determine the exact causes of death. While bacterial contamination is being considered a possibility, authorities stated that no bacteria capable of causing the death has been identified in the restaurant at this stage. Following the family's concerns, the establishment was inspected by prefecture services, which reported no hygiene violations.
