Finistère kidnapping: Four indicted in 700,000 euro crypto extortion

Four men have been indicted following a kidnapping and cryptocurrency extortion in Ploudalmézeau, Finistère. Two of the suspects have been placed in custody, the Rennes prosecutor's office announced.

The incident occurred on April 20, when five members of a family—including grandparents, a daughter, and two children—were held captive in their home. The father, described as active in the cryptocurrency sector, was not present during the attack. Neighbors discovered the victims tied up in the house and alerted the gendarmerie.

Criminals reportedly extorted the digital wallet password from the couple, resulting in a loss of approximately 700,000 euros. A recent police operation involving 40 military personnel from the Rennes Research Section and Finistère units helped advance the investigation.
