Finland air traffic returns to pre-pandemic levels

International air traffic in Finnish airspace has returned to pre-pandemic levels. According to Fintraffic, the number of arriving and departing flights increased by 3.8 percent between July and September compared to the previous year.

In the aviation sector, Finnair has significantly raised its financial guidance for 2026. The airline increased its revenue forecast by 100 million euros, now estimating revenue between 3.5 and 3.6 billion euros. The comparable operating profit guidance was also raised to a range of 175–220 million euros, driven by stronger-than-expected passenger demand.

While aviation shows recovery, domestic rail traffic faced challenges due to track work. Local train services in Finland decreased by 10 percent during the July–September period, partly due to extensive maintenance in the Helsinki metropolitan area and other regions like Oulu and Kouvola–Luumäki.
