Finland national football teams prepare for intensive international fixtures
The Finnish men's national football team, known as Huuhkajat, is preparing for a demanding UEFA Nations League schedule in the September-October international window. Under head coach Jacob Friis, the team will play four matches in 11 days against San Marino, Albania, and Belarus (twice). Friis has described his current 25-man squad as the best he has had in his 18 months with the team, noting a strong mix of experience and youth. Key players Kaan Kairinen and Glen Kamara return to the squad, while striker Joel Pohjanpalo is also included in the lineup.
The objective for the senior team is to secure promotion back to League B. Success in the Nations League also provides a pathway for teams to qualify for the Euro 2028 playoffs.
Simultaneously, the Finland U21 national team is entering the final stages of their European Championship qualifying group. The squad is scheduled to face Spain at home in Tampere, followed by away matches against Romania and Kosovo. Coach Mika Lehkosuo expressed confidence ahead of the high-profile match against Spain, noting that over 6,000 tickets have already been sold for the Tampere fixture.
