Finland celebrates Venetsialaiset end-of-season festivities

The end of the boating and cottage season, known as Venetsialaiset, is being celebrated across various regions in Finland this weekend.

In the Mikkeli region, multiple events are scheduled. Mikkelipuisto will host activities including a flea market, children's programming, and live music. In Puumala, a communal meal will be held under a bridge, and in Pertunmaa, traditional festivities will take place at the Torin ranta.

In Pirkanmaa, the Rescue Department has issued specific guidelines regarding the use of fireworks for the celebrations. Fireworks are permitted on Saturday, August 29, 2026, between 18:00 and 24:00, provided they are used outside of urban areas and in the immediate vicinity of bodies of water. The use of fireworks is strictly prohibited if a forest fire warning is in effect or during high winds. Authorities emphasize that users must maintain a safe distance from buildings, boats, and livestock, and must ensure they do not cause undue disturbance to the environment.
