Finland conducts LVV26 national civil protection readiness exercise

Finland is conducting the LVV26 national readiness exercise, organized by the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency. The large-scale drill, running from late September to early October, involves over 10,000 participants from approximately 500 organizations, including state administration, local municipalities, welfare areas, and various private sector actors.

The exercise focuses on civil protection and is based on a fictional international scenario where the security situation deteriorates, critical infrastructure is disrupted, and the threat of military force increases significantly. Participating organizations are practicing internal population relocation and evacuation procedures, as well as crisis leadership, communication, and situational awareness.

While the exercise does not involve actual physical relocations of citizens and will not impact daily life on the streets, it is designed to test the ability of various sectors—including healthcare, rescue services, and social services—to cooperate and manage information flow during exceptional circumstances.
