Finland criticised for losing over 500 state jobs in Häme regions
Members of Finland's Centre Party have warned that more than 400 state positions have been removed from Päijät-Häme and over 100 from Kanta-Häme during the current parliamentary term. They attribute the cuts to the government's policy of concentrating administration in Helsinki, arguing that it is driven by ideology rather than cost savings.
The reductions affect agencies such as the Tax Administration, the Natural Resources Centre, and legal‑aid services, and are said to undermine regional vitality and the accessibility of public services, especially as Finland faces some of the highest unemployment rates in Europe.
