Finland economy projected to grow by 2 percent next year

Finland's economy is showing signs of recovery, with economists projecting a 2 percent growth rate for next year. This shift follows previously grim economic forecasts. Growth is being driven by a rise in exports and increased domestic consumption.

Exports reached record levels between April and June, totaling more than 35 billion euros, a 15 percent increase compared to the previous year. A significant contributor to this surge was the export of a 1.9 billion euro cruise ship built in Turku, which has been delivered to a buyer in the United States.

Despite the economic improvement, the labor market remains challenging. The unemployment rate stood at 10.5 percent during the summer, with approximately 300,000 unemployed individuals. The employment situation has worsened particularly for those aged 25 to 34. Economists note that while the improved economy has not yet reduced unemployment numbers, a decrease is expected over a longer period.
