Finland economy shows signs of recovery amid stock market growth

The Finnish economy and stock market are showing signs of stabilization and growth. In the Helsinki Stock Exchange, the second quarter saw a median operating profit growth of 13.6 percent and a median revenue growth of 4.4 percent. Major companies such as Nokia, Neste, and Nordea reported strong results, with growth becoming more widespread across the exchange rather than being limited to the largest firms.

Economic forecasts for Finland have also improved, with OP Pohjola and Säästöpankkiryhmä raising their growth projections to 2 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively. While investments are growing and private consumption is picking up, challenges remain regarding high unemployment and political debates over taxation.

In the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector, financing remains a critical concern. While there are slight signs of improvement, 17 percent of SMEs report that access to funding has worsened over the past year. Suomen Yrittäjät has called for banks to become more active in easing credit policies and for the government to improve the enforcement of payment term laws to ensure better cash flow for growing businesses.
