Finland employment rises as industry and construction sectors grow

Recent labor market data from Statistics Finland shows a positive trend in employment. In August, the number of employed persons aged 15–74 increased by 34,000 compared to the previous year, while the number of unemployed individuals decreased by 5,000.

This employment growth has primarily been driven by men, particularly in traditionally male-dominated sectors such as industry, construction, technology, and maintenance. Job advertisements in the industry and technology sectors rose by 13 percent compared to August of the previous year, while construction saw an 11 percent increase.

In a separate study regarding summer employment, Duunitori analyzed the experiences of nearly 3,000 seasonal workers across 50 Finnish companies. The research evaluated various factors including job tasks, learning, orientation, and pay. Top-rated employers included companies such as SSAB, Metsä Group, Fortum, and Metso Finland, with high satisfaction levels reported across various sectors including energy, retail, and software.
