Finland EV battery data shows 5 percent have issues

Data from nearly 100,000 battery tests conducted in Finland reveals that approximately 5 percent of electric and hybrid vehicle batteries show deviations or issues. The findings were released by Diagno, the importer of Aviloo battery diagnostics in Finland.

The dataset, which covers a four-year period, represents roughly one-third of all electric vehicles currently on Finnish roads. According to Frans Malmarin, Chief Operating Officer at Diagno, the Aviloo rapid tests provide a more comprehensive view than standard manufacturer State of Health (SoH) measurements because they include a broader range of measurement targets.

The SoH value measures battery aging and remaining capacity compared to a new battery. For example, a battery in a vehicle that has driven 100,000 km over a few years might show an SoH of 90 percent, indicating normal wear.
