Finland explores AI integration in SME strategy and municipal communication

New initiatives in Finland are exploring the integration of artificial intelligence into professional workflows, focusing on both strategic management for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and municipal communication.

Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences is launching a project running from September 2025 to December 2027. The initiative aims to develop an AI-assisted strategic work model for SMEs in the Uusimaa region. The goal is to provide tools and practical models that allow smaller companies to strengthen their competitiveness and innovation capabilities through rapid strategy formulation and implementation.

Simultaneously, a year-long research project led by Pekka Isotalu from Tampere University is investigating how AI affects the work of municipal communicators. Beyond simple tasks like text generation and report summarization, the research examines how AI influences interpersonal interaction and community dynamics within workplaces. The study highlights a shift in professional behavior, noting that employees are increasingly turning to AI for information that was previously sought from colleagues.
