Finland exports reach record 34.6 billion euros in Q2

Finland's combined exports of goods and services reached a new record of 34.6 billion euros during the second quarter of the year. This represents a 15% increase, or approximately 4.6 billion euros, compared to the previous year.

The record growth was driven entirely by goods, as service exports fell by 4% year-on-year. Declines in services were noted particularly in telecommunications, information technology, and data services, while tourism exports reached their lowest level since 2021.

Exports to the United States saw a significant surge, increasing by 25% (5.0 billion euros) to a total of 4.4 billion euros. This growth was largely attributed to the delivery of a cruise ship valued at approximately 1.9 billion euros in June. The United States now accounts for roughly 18% of Finland's total goods exports.

In terms of imports, the value of goods increased by 3.3 billion euros compared to the previous year, resulting in a goods trade surplus of 3.9 billion euros. Service imports rose by 7%, leaving the services trade balance at a deficit of 2.1 billion euros.
