Finland pledges €330 million in aid and satellite technology to Ukraine
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo visited Kyiv on October 22 to sign seven cooperation agreements worth a total of 330 million euros. The aid package is designed to bolster Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and defense capabilities ahead of the winter season.
A key component of the agreement involves enhanced access to Finnish satellite intelligence. Finnish space technology companies, including ICEYE and Nokia, signed letters of intent for space cooperation with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. This intelligence is critical for monitoring Russian missile launches and preparing for potential attacks.
During the visit, which occurred amidst Russian ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv, Orpo emphasized that Russia lacks the will for peace. In addition to the infrastructure and technology support, Finland also allocated 2 million euros in humanitarian aid to assist the country.
