Finland sets Aug. 6 deadline for property tax for 1.9 million owners

The first instalment of Finland's property tax is due on Thursday, 6 August 2024. About 1.9 million property owners must pay roughly €440 million in total.

Late payments attract a 9.5 % interest rate that starts accruing from the first day of delay. In the previous year, 425 000 taxpayers paid late, 65 000 fewer than the year before. Tax amounts exceeding €170 are automatically split into two instalments, and owners can request electronic invoicing to avoid missed payments. The tax administration stresses that tax refunds are not automatically applied to the property‑tax bill.

Taxpayers who face temporary payment difficulties may arrange a payment plan with the Finnish Tax Administration, provided they have no outstanding debts or enforcement actions.
