Finland to host major athletics and adventure sport world championships in 2027‑2028

Finland's city of Pori will stage the national athletics championships, the Kalevan Games, from July 30 to August 1 2027. The event will debut a new visual brand that unifies its identity across marketing, communications and the competition venue, which will feature a newly installed Mondo track and cooperation with local clubs Nakkilan Viren, Noormarkun Nopsan and Porin Yleisurheilu.

The International Adventure Racing Association (IARA) and Adventure Race World Series (ARWS) have selected Kuopio to host the 2028 Youth Adventure Sport World Championships, the first time the tournament will be held in Finland and on the European continent. The competition will bring together young athletes, coaches and support staff from around the world to contest multi‑discipline challenges such as orienteering, trail running, mountain biking and kayaking across Kuopio's extensive forest and lake terrain.
