Finland to launch new real‑estate price data service after KVKL ends old platform

The Finnish Real Estate Brokerage Association (KVKL) stopped supplying transaction price data to the environment ministry’s price‑information service in June, leading to the service’s shutdown. KVKL cited three reasons: declining coverage as agencies stopped reporting, misuse of the data for commercial purposes, and the platform’s outdated technology.

KVKL will develop a new service, aiming for launch by the end of this year or early next year. The new system will aggregate broad market and regional development data but will not publish individual transaction details. Statistics Finland will continue to receive monthly price statistics from KVKL.

The former service, managed by the state‑supported housing construction centre Varke, attracted about 40,000 monthly users and provided consumers with actual sale prices, which differ from listed asking prices. Varke was prepared to keep the service running, but KVKL terminated the data‑supply contract in autumn 2025. Economists warn that the loss of detailed transaction data may reduce market transparency for buyers and sellers.
