Finland tourism sees growth from Europe and US, Telia data shows

Mobile network data from Telia reveals significant shifts in tourism to Finland during the summer of 2026. Sweden remained the largest source of travelers, while notable growth was observed from the Netherlands, Spain, and France. Specifically, travelers from the Netherlands increased by 32 percent, Spain by 23 percent, and France by 19 percent compared to the previous summer.

While German tourism saw a 5 percent decline, Germans remained the second-largest group of travelers, accounting for 9 percent of the total. Interest from outside Europe also grew, highlighted by an increase in travelers from the United States.

Data usage among tourists in Finland also rose, with an average of 1.9 gigabytes of mobile data used per person, up from 1.6 gigabytes the previous year. Max-Petter Laine, Telia’s head of mobile business, noted that while tourists use less data than Finns traveling abroad—who average approximately 6 gigabytes—smartphones remain an essential part of the travel experience.
