Finland weather warning: Strong winds may cause power outages
A low-pressure system is expected to bring strong winds to Finland from Sunday through Monday. Meteorologist Iiris Idoko from the Finnish Meteorological Institute reports that wind speeds on land will reach approximately 15 meters per second, with gusts common in the southern and western parts of the country.
While the winds are concentrated in the southwest, gusty conditions may also affect areas such as Kymenlaakso and South Ostrobothnia. Although autumn wind damage is generally less frequent than in summer, potential risks include wind damage and power outages, particularly as trees are losing their leaves.
In addition to the wind, the early part of the week will see a warm southern flow bringing occasional rain. Monday is expected to be the rainiest day, with scattered showers possible across the country. Temperatures are expected to remain relatively mild, with nighttime temperatures in northern regions like North Ostrobothnia, Kainuu, and North Karelia potentially staying unusually high at 7–8 degrees Celsius.
