Finland wellbeing services counties implement structural and financial changes
Finnish wellbeing services counties are implementing various structural and financial changes to social and health services. In Pirkanmaa, the wellbeing services county is initiating cooperation negotiations regarding changes to service networks, staff roles, and work locations. While these changes aim to improve service flow and resource allocation, officials stated there are currently no goals for staff reductions at the county level.
In Varsinais-Suomi, healthcare officials are warning against significant increases in patient fees proposed for next year due to government legislative changes. They argue that rising costs—which have seen health center visit prices increase by 74 percent during the current government term—may lead to delayed treatments and increased health inequalities, particularly for low-income individuals.
Meanwhile, in the Kanta-Häme region, local municipalities, the wellbeing services county, and the Häme Regional Council are advancing a strategic cooperation agreement. This partnership focuses on four key areas: wellbeing-supporting housing, data-driven management, preparedness and security, and impactful wellbeing work, with the goal of reducing health disparities and strengthening regional vitality.
