Finland's business and consumer confidence improves in July 2026
In July 2026 Finland's business confidence continued to rise, led by a sharp rebound in construction where the index moved from –17 in June to –5, while overall industrial confidence increased to +7 from +4. Service sector confidence held steady at +7 and retail confidence remained unchanged at +12. EK chief economist Penna Urrila noted that “the Finnish economic cycle continues and strengthens despite international uncertainty.”
Consumer confidence, measured by Statistics Finland, stayed at –5.3, unchanged from June, but expectations showed modest improvement: 53% of consumers rated the national economy as weaker than a year ago (down from 59%), and 27% expected the economy to improve within a year (up from 21%). However, personal‑finance sentiment remained mixed, with 26% seeing their own situation worse and 23% seeing it better. Half of respondents anticipated rising unemployment, and regional differences were pronounced, with the strongest confidence in the capital region and the weakest in the north. Tilastokeskus senior analyst Pertti Kangassalo said the overall outlook remains “rather gloomy and confusing both globally and in Finland.”
