Finland's small workplaces score highest in work‑wellbeing survey

A survey commissioned by Suomen Yrittäjät (Finnish Entrepreneurs) was carried out from 8 – 18 May 2026 with 1,098 respondents aged 18‑69, representing employees, entrepreneurs and the unemployed. The poll found that workplaces with fewer than ten staff receive the best scores for trust, equal treatment, information flow and the ability to combine work and family life.

Seventy‑one percent of respondents say their workplace has a trusting atmosphere, 68 % see equal treatment as satisfactory and 62 % rate leadership positively. Respondents rank work atmosphere and team spirit above salary as the main drivers of job satisfaction, while employer benefits and values are seen as least important. Women tend to give slightly more negative assessments than men, and the 18‑29 age group rates their workplaces more positively than older groups. The results echo earlier findings from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment’s work‑life barometer, showing consistent advantages for smaller firms.
