Finland's Yle reports 3.3 million viewers for 2026 World Cup group stage

Yleisradio (Yle) said that 3.3 million Finns watched the men’s 2026 World Cup group‑stage matches on its TV channels, Yle Areena, website and app during the first two weeks of the tournament. The most‑watched match, Argentina vs Austria, attracted an average of 792 000 viewers and reached about 1.4 million people.

Yle shares broadcast rights with MTV, each airing 52 of the 104 matches. The final, scheduled for 19 July at 22:00 Finnish time, will be shown from New York. The interactive game “Futistietäjä”, launched alongside the coverage, broke several records: over 116 000 participants have placed more than six million bets, raising the Yle app’s monthly reach to an all‑time high and generating over 850 000 views of its competition guide. The figures come from Finnpanel’s TotalTV research.
