Finn Mason climbs Gran Paradiso and Weissmies in three days, raising funds for HighGround charity

Seventeen‑year‑old Finn Mason from Launceston, Cornwall, completed a rapid double ascent in the Alps to support the veterans charity HighGround. After a heat‑driven cancellation of a planned Mont Blanc attempt, he tackled Italy’s Gran Paradiso (4,061 m) on July 28 and then Switzerland’s Weissmies (4,017 m) on July 30, covering more than 4,000 m of elevation in just three days.

Mason’s effort has so far generated over £4,200 for HighGround, which helps service leavers find land‑based employment, and he hopes to exceed his £5,000 target. He thanked donors such as The Orchard Centre, Cornish Lithium and Horizon Home Improvements for their support.
