Finnish driver seeks contract cancellation over defective Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e

A Finnish consumer, identified as Marika, bought a Mercedes‑Benz GLC 350e for about €52,000. Within eight months the vehicle repeatedly malfunctioned – it smoked, consumed oil, lost turbo power and eventually stopped moving. Repairs, including a new PTC heater (€3,620) and a replaced drive‑unit (€11,500), failed to resolve the issue. Marika filed a claim with the Finnish Consumer Dispute Board, demanding the purchase be cancelled and seeking €15,120 in compensation for repair costs and interest.

In a separate case, another Finnish driver, Miika, owned a 23‑year‑old Volkswagen Golf. After a defective timing belt and other parts caused engine damage, the authorised parts dealer denied warranty coverage, citing poor maintenance. Miika also lodged a complaint with the Consumer Dispute Board, asking the dealer and the parts import‑er to reimburse half of the €496 repair bill.
