Finnish investment funds see nearly 800 million euros in new capital
In July, new capital inflows into investment funds registered in Finland totaled nearly 800 million euros, bringing the total fund capital to approximately 222 billion euros. Inflows were distributed across various categories, including 353 million euros in equity funds, 184 million euros in long-term bond funds, and 184 million euros in short-term bond funds. Alternative funds saw net redemptions of 34 million euros.
Market trends during this period were influenced by geopolitical tensions between Iran and the United States, which impacted oil prices and inflation expectations. Additionally, the artificial intelligence sector showed signs of cooling, leading to increased uncertainty regarding the profitability of AI investments, despite continued activity.
Data from OP Pohjola indicates a significant shift in Finnish investor behavior, with the number of Finnish investors in global funds exceeding 1.1 million by the end of June. This represents a 122 percent increase in global fund ownership since the start of the 2020s. There is also a growing trend toward regular, automated fund investing, with 126,000 new regular investment agreements opened in the first half of the year.
