Finnish machinery and metal industry employment hits post-crisis high
Employment in the Finnish machinery and metal industry has returned to its highest level since the financial crisis. As of the end of June, the sector employed 138,200 people, matching the levels seen at the beginning of 2023.
Growth in the technology industry is being driven by sectors such as maritime, defense, data center investments, and energy solutions. Despite geopolitical and trade policy uncertainties, the inquiry balance for technology companies reached its highest level since late 2021, signaling increased market activity.
While the total number of employees in the broader technology sector saw a slight decrease due to trends in IT and consulting services, the value of new orders increased by 13% compared to the first quarter of the year.
