Finnish police respond to multiple traffic incidents and pursuits

Police in Finland reported a high volume of traffic-related incidents over a recent weekend, including several high-speed pursuits and serious accidents.

In Mynämäki, police intercepted an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) traveling without lights or license plates at double the speed limit. After the 16-year-old driver attempted to flee through pedestrian paths and oncoming traffic, officers used their vehicle to stop the ATV. Both the driver and a passenger, also 16, were evaluated by paramedics.

In Vantaa, a van driver led police on a chase along Ring III after colliding with a truck. The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle and was apprehended inside a nearby store. Authorities suspect driving under the influence and gross endangerment of traffic safety.

Other notable incidents included a fatal single-vehicle accident in Orimattila, where a driver died after crashing on Lahdentie, and a serious crash in Western Uusimaa where a car struck a concrete pole and ended up on a roof, causing injuries to three occupants.
