Finnish President Alexander Stubb begins state visit to Luxembourg

Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his spouse, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, have commenced a two-day state visit to Luxembourg. This marks the first time a Finnish head of state has been received by Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie.

The visit focuses on bilateral and economic relations, global security, European reinforcement, and the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The official program includes meetings with Prime Minister Luc Frieden, visits to the European Investment Bank and the Court of Justice of the European Union, and a visit to the Luxembourg University in Belval. President Stubb is scheduled to deliver a speech titled ‘Values, interests and power in the age of strategic competition’.

In the City of Luxembourg, the presidential couple participated in an academic session hosted by Mayor Lydie Polfer, where discussions emphasized the shared commitment to European values and the necessity of protecting peace through dialogue and cooperation. Additionally, the First Lady and the Grand Duchess visited the National Center for Victims of Violence.
