Finnish satellite firm Iceye secures €300m from EU Scaleup Europe Fund

Finnish space‑intelligence startup Iceye received a €300 million investment from the EU’s €5 billion Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by Swedish investment firm EQT. The funding forms part of Iceye’s €1 billion Series F round, co‑led by EQT and US private‑equity group General Atlantic, and values the company at roughly €10 billion. Iceye, which operates the world’s largest synthetic‑aperture‑radar satellite constellation, serves defence, intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency‑management customers. CEO and co‑founder Rafał Modrzewski said the investment reflects Europe’s talent and ambition in strategically important technologies, while EQT partner Victor Englesson highlighted the fund’s purpose to back ambitious European founders. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen added that the fund aims to keep European innovators and their growth capital within Europe.
