Finnish Tax Agency warns €2.2 million refunds may be delayed

The Finnish Tax Administration (Verohallinto) says nearly 33,000 taxpayers risk delayed refunds on the scheduled refund day of 3 August because they have not entered their bank‑account numbers in the online service. Missing details are most common among young people receiving a refund for the first time.

Around €2.2 million in refunds could be unpaid. The deadline to provide the bank number is 27 July. If the information is not submitted by then, refunds will be issued as payment‑order vouchers that can be collected later from Nordea, and the actual cash will be paid about a month after the number is received. As the agency notes, “We hope that parents of young people remind them to provide their bank‑account number so they avoid disappointment on refund day,” said senior inspector Juha Villman.

Refunds may still be credited later in the day, but they may not appear instantly in the recipient’s account.
