Finnish universities launch national graduate career tracking surveys

National career tracking surveys in Finland are set to launch in October 2026 to monitor the professional trajectories of university and polytechnic graduates from 2021.

Savonia University of Applied Sciences will invite its 2021 alumni to participate between October 7 and November 9, 2026. The survey aims to assess how well academic training meets the evolving needs of the labor market and to identify useful skills for current and future students. Savonia plans to supplement the survey with personal outreach via phone calls.

Tampere University is also participating in the national initiative, coordinated by the Aarresaari network. The survey targets 2021 graduates of specific programs, including architects, engineers, and masters-level graduates, as well as doctoral graduates from 2023.

Data from previous years indicates that while masters-level graduates from Tampere University generally see higher-than-average employment rates, there have been recent fluctuations in full-time employment for doctoral graduates. The surveys serve to provide comparative data on labor market trends and skill requirements to improve educational guidance and curriculum development.
