Finnish youth group visits Schweinfurt for city partnership exchange

Nineteen teenagers and five supervisors from Seinäjoki, Finland, arrived in Schweinfurt, Germany, for an eight‑day youth‑exchange program that is part of a long‑standing city partnership. The group, coordinated by the Schweinfurt youth office, took part in a city‑game that let them explore the town, solve tasks and interact with local residents.

Mayor Ralf Hofmann welcomed the visitors and stressed the value of international encounters for young people. Activities included trips to the local lake, the SILVANA recreation area, the Merkers underground mine, and a visit to the documentation centre at the former Nazi rally grounds in Nuremberg. Participants also noted price differences, such as cheaper ice‑cream in Schweinfurt compared with Finland. After a week of cultural and historical tours, the Finnish delegation returned to Seinäjoki, with a reciprocal Schweinfurt visit planned for the summer of 2027.
