Finnmark County Council seeks local driver's license testing
The Finnmark County Council is calling on the Norwegian government and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to allow driver's license theory tests to be conducted at local police stations or municipal service centers.
Due to the vast distances in Finnmark, many youths currently face long travel times to reach traffic stations, often resulting in the loss of entire school days and increased travel costs. The council argues that since the tests are digital, they should be accessible locally to ensure that residence does not dictate the difficulty of obtaining a license. They emphasize that identity verification and security protocols must still be maintained during these local sessions.
